If you think of all the genealogy sites on the Net as being one
big family, this site might be referred to as the grandparent of
the whole clan. The National Genealogical Society (NGS) home page
is a definite bookmark site for any computer genealogist. It
begins with a brief introduction, including some historical facts
about the NGS. This is followed by a welcome from the president of
the organization, a calendar of events, information on research
services, a listing of genealogical charts and forms that can be
ordered for a fee, a listing of genealogy computer interest
groups, a compilation of genealogy bulletin board systems, and
tips for beginners. Perhaps the pièce de résistance at this site
is a huge file called the "Genealogist's Guide to the Internet."
You can download it free from the Web site or from an FTP
location, the address of which is posted online.
