Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians: Great Black Music

In the mid-1960s, a group of musicians who were extending the
boundaries of jazz formed the Association for the Advancement of
Creative Musicians (AACM). Thirty years later, the AACM has a
wonderful Web site, with an organizational history, biographies
and discographies of member musicians (including Muhal Richard
Abrams, the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Anthony Braxton, Kahil
El'Zabar, Chico Freeman, George E. Lewis, Amina Claudine Myers,
and Henry Threadgill), audio and video clips, and lots more. This
site uses many complex graphics as backgrounds and illustrations,
so there may be some waiting time while the pages load.
