HVB - The Island of Lanai Lanai is known as Hawaiiâ s "Pineapple
Island" because it is almost completely owned by the Dole Food
Company. It has only become accessible to tourists in the last few
years. Lanai is less crowded than the other Hawaiian
islands--often so empty that the entire island seems to be at your
private beck and call. Visitors to this site can take a guided
tour of Lanai and find out why many people consider it to be the
