The concept of GeoCities is to create a Web village that connects
neighborhoods of Web users to each other. To join the GeoCities
village, users can obtain free home pages and set up residence for
their page in any one of 24 neighborhoods, each with particular
cultural personalities. Visitors of the GeoCities top page can
check out the various neighborhoods as if traveling to different
cities. Within the neighborhoods or communities, GeoCities allows
advertisers to place interactive ads like street billboards. The
