Internet Underground Music Archive

The Internet Underground Music Archive (IUMA) is a collection of
independent recordings by new bands, many of which are
self-produced. And you won't find just "alternative" rock here
(though that's this Web site's main focus): country, jazz, and
many other genres are all represented. Realizing that many people
don't have speedy T-1 connections, IUMA thoughtfully provides a
choice between the heavy graphics pages and a simpler and much
faster-loading gray-scale version of the site. In either format,
the site is well organized, and it's quite easy to find samples of
potentially interesting music, no matter what your tastes are. Be
forewarned that whether you're using the quick gray-scale
interface or the full-bore graphics version of the site, once you
start to download audio files here, it's going to take a while.
Many of the sound files here are well over 2 megabytes in size.
