"The first incarnation of Paradise Lost was a public BBS that was
up from Aug. 1992 until Apr. 1993. The sysop quickly got
interested in the hacking and phreaking scene and made the BBS
private, changed the software to Renegade, and changed the phone
number. For a single line BBS that catered to the Milwaukee area
it was pretty active during its short life taking 50-60 calls a
day with active message boards. It was difficult for the sysop to
take all of this down, but the h/p world was what was more
