"It went on-line for the first time on October 15, 1987 and is
still operating today, though in an evolved form. In 1994 we added
TELNET access to the traditional compliment of dial-up modems, and
in 1995, added HTTP access. In 1998, the traditional dial-up phone
lines were discontinued, and in 2001, the TELNET interface was
turned off, but the HTTP interface continues to this very day.
This evening, I (the author of the software that runs Midnight
Auto Parts BBS) am mentally debating switching back to dial-up
access only, as a measure to ensure greater privacy and anonymity
