|
| A lot of hiring practices are built around the notion that

| Stanford Research Computing Center | Stanford, CA (next to Palo

|
| The Stanford Research Computing Center
| (https://srcc.stanford.edu) is part of Stanford University IT,
| and have a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Vice Provost
| and Dean of Research. Our group does lots of stuff: We operate
| HPC environments for researchers, we do one-time consultations on
| projects (from software and pipelines, to data management, to
| physical building design and fit-out), and we provide contract
| support for individual Labs, Departments, and Schools.
|
| We have two open sysadmin positions, both of which are in the
| 'contract support' part of the group.
|
| * Research Computing Systems Specialist, SDSS: The Doerr School
| of Sustainability is one of our largest clients. They use our
| primary research cluster (Sherlock); and they also have their own
| cluster, which you'll be responsible for. You'll have a lot of
| contact with Doerr School Faculty, Graduate Students, and
| Postdocs.
|
| Keywords: Python, C, Fortran, MPI, and large jobs. You'll be
| working with our in-group SME, and the two sysadmins who run
| Sherlock.
|
| * Stanford CryoEM Center (cEMc) Computational Resources and Data
| Management Specialist: Within the School of Medicine, this is a
| new Center, providing cryoEM equipment and services to
| researchers. cEMc is looking for someone who ideally has both
| cryoEM and Linux experience, who can advise researchers on their
| workflows and pipelines. You'll be a bridge between the
| researchers and us, helping to design workflows and pipelines
| that automate things as much as possible, within the limits of a
| shared HPC environment.
|
| All of these cases involve working in HPC. Both positions involve
| working with the x64 Linux machines (either CentOS or Ubuntu). It
| would be great if you knew about SLURM (our job scheduler), but
| that's not required. For the SDSS position, it would also help if
| you knew MPI, as many SDSS workloads use that for inter-node
| communication and shared memory; but again, that's not required.
| For the SDSS position in particular, if you're a sysadmin, but
| not an HPC sysadmin, you should still apply.
|
| Both positions are hybrid: You can expect to be on-campus at
| least two or three days per week. If you don't already live in
| the Bay Area, I believe we do provide a relocation incentive.
| Depending on where you live, we provide free transit passes.
| Unfortunately, if you don't commute, you will have to pay for
| parking for the days you're on-site. Work benefits are all
| publicly documented at
| https://cardinalatwork.stanford.edu/benefits-rewards. We always
| get two weeks off around Christmas, through you'll have to spend
| one or two days on-call.
|
| Here are the links to apply:

| Felt is the best way to make maps on the internet. It's
| surprisingly hard to make a map today, and people in 15+
| industries rely on them to do their jobs. Climate change and the
| resulting natural disasters are forcing even more people to
| become map-makers, and Felt is here to meet that need. It's the
| first easy-to-use collaborative mapping software, founded by a
| team of technologists with a proven track-record. My co-founder
| and CEO, Sam, is a former YC founder who sold his previous
| company [1] and I'm an early Uber engineer.
|
| We are on the lookout for a hands-on engineering manager for our
| data team. Felt makes giant geospatial datasets a breeze to work
| with [2] and we are currently building our next-generation of our
| data stack on AWS. The team you'll be managing is full of expert
| engineers from Facebook, Carto, Mapbox, and Uber. You might have
| used their work in mapping already; such as Tippecanoe. We also
| recently announced our sponsorship of QGIS [3] and have some
| amazing stuff planned in the next couple of quarters.
|
| We are well-funded and just raised our $15M Series A. You can
| read more about it our funding here [4], and our announcement

| Nuna (https://www.nuna.com) | San Francisco & Remote (US only)|
| Full-time | ONSITE (fully-remote now) | Visa Transfer
|
| In the US, we spend an average of over $12,500 per person each
| year on healthcare -- that's almost twice what other developed
| countries spend. Healthcare in the US costs a staggering $4
| trillion dollars per year, almost 1/5 of our Nation's entire
| economy. Yet with all this resource, our healthcare outcomes are
| poorer than other countries, people still can't afford their
| healthcare, and our healthcare providers are burnt out.
|
| Moreover, our healthcare is systemically unequal. People of
| color, lower income, and LGBTQ+ have demonstrably worse
| healthcare outcomes, a disparity grimly highlighted by the
| pandemic we're living through now where people of color are
| three-times more likely to die from COVID-19.
|
| How can this be, and how can we change it?
|
| Nuna is tackling one of the most hardest problems in healthcare
| underlying the negative outcomes and disparities we see: how
| healthcare gets paid.
|
| Today, hospitals only get paid when they do more-- more visits,
| more tests, more meds, more surgeries. Hopefully this helps
| patients get better, but regardless, the system gets paid. In
| fact, doing more is the only way to stay afloat.
|
| But -- is this really the right set of incentives? Shouldn't
| everyone get rewarded not just by doing more, but by when
| patients actually get better? Shouldn't everyone have access to
| affordable, high quality care, and shouldn't hospitals be
| rewarded when they deliver this care? And shouldn't insurance
| companies get rewarded when they help ALL their patients get
| better?
|
| Absolutely, yes. This concept is called Value-Based Care. In
| fact, healthcare as a whole has been trying to move in this
| direction for years, but making it all reality is deeply complex
| -- it is after all our healthcare. Nuna's technology platform,
| our software apps, our vision, and our exceptionally talented
| team are collectively accelerating the healthcare system's
| ability to make value-based care available to everyone.
|
| In 2022, Nuna will power over $70Bn of healthcare payments for
| over 6.5mn patients. We also leverage our data science and
| platform to direct patients to the best, culturally-matched, and
| accessible care providers for them. Additionally, we make it
| transparent and easy for both hospitals and insurers to see how
| they are performing in value-based care by spotlighting the
| patients or areas where they need to pay extra attention so that
| they can provide good care to all their patients and get
| rewarded.
|
| Nuna is unique - we have brought together an exceptional team of
| over 200 people. We are the industry's best in healthcare data,
| analytics, engineering, clinicians, and value based healthcare

| The overall product is very simple: USDT that pays you the yield.

| You will be able to go to curve, swap USDT or USDC to stUSD, and
| then earn ~4% APY by just holding stUSD (each day, wallet balance
| increases). You will also be able to go to the protocol website
| and see up-to-date bank reserves & stUSD debt, and the protocol
| stays overcolateralized at all times. We will have a focus on
| transparency and reducing all risks, including smart-contract,
| liquidity and collateralization risks.
|
| There is no reason for centrally managed stablecoin issuers such
| as USDT or USDC to not share the yield on reserves with token
| holders, so we do just that.
|
| We create a new stablecoin: stUSD, collateralized mostly by
| 3-month T-bills. 90% of the yield on reserves is paid to holders
| with the same mechanism Lido uses. stUSD is similar to stETH, and
| wstUSD similar to wstETH. (except yield comes from T-bills
| instead of staking rewards).
|
| I am currently managing a prop trading firm (~1B average daily
| volume) that will operate a market maker and arbitrage for stUSD.
| We are very well positioned for such a project, as we have both
| the capital and lawyers+bank relationships (with the operation of
| our fund) to get it started.
|
| The growth strategy is to be first to market at importing the
| "TradFi risk-free rate" into Defi, grow a large TVL through this
| position, and then grow the network effects of stUSD: usage as
| collateral, dexes, and lending pools.
|
