| The "ugly" design is for signaling purposes IMO.

| These days a polished website promising "curated" anything is
| likely to be crawling with trackers and have a hideous "#1 on
| Product Hunt" emblem on it.

| And it's true I guess. I'm finding a couple of interesting
| stuff to pass time.
|
| Good compilation, OP. Not sure about the reason for such a
| design.

| The site has good content; I particularly like the "useful"

| Am I weird? I never get bored. My problem is that I don't feel I
| have enough time and energy to do everything that I want to do.
|
| I have a bunch of things I want to learn, a bunch of side
| projects I want to complete, a bunch of books I want to read, one
| or two books I want to write. Trying to do all that while still
| working and caring for family and doing the day to day

| I'm in this spot to. My backlog for programming projects I want

| This seems like a better problem to have. Over time you'll do a
| lot of cool stuff and have interesting things to talk about.
|
| I have stuff I would like to want to do. I've had stuff on my
| to do list of cool projects for years, but I rarely translate
| that into action to actually do them. The result of that is
| boredom or just killing time. I think part if it is that I
| don't think I'll have enough time, so I don't start. If I have
| a couple weeks off work, after 4-6 days of decompressing and
| accept that I have time, I'll usually start in on some kind of
| project. But with work I'm mostly just plugging in my battery
| to charge so I can do it again the next day.

| The best cure for boredom is to cultivate tolerance for boredom
| by doing boring things without listening to music or watching
| youtube at the same time. Just sit there and draw or whittle or
| carve wood or do the dishes or play solitaire with a physical
| deck of cards. No music. No instagram.
|
| A small way to start this journey: don't take your phone in the
| bathroom. Don't read the shampoo bottle instead. Just sit there
| and do your business without being constantly stimulated.
|
| Try prayer or meditation. Eventually, you won't feel compelled to
| build Comic Sans eyesores to chase the anxiety away.
| kretaceous wrote:
| Ignoring your last sentence, I agree with this.

| I learnt cubing and have been enjoying it as a break from

| al_borland wrote:

| Is that solving Rubik's cubes? I learned that during the
| downtime in 2020. Most of my speed gains from 10 minutes down
| to a minute or so came while mindlessly solving it over and
| over again while watching TV to build muscle memory. It
| didn't do a great job getting me away from screens.
|
| I didn't go crazy learning a million algorithms to get my
| times down below 1 minutes though. I have no ambitions to
| compete.

| This was meant as a catharsis, not anything to legitimately
| "cure" boredom. In retrospect, I should have dropped the

|
| I can't say I reflect well with meditation and prayer, but I'm
| now aware that it's bound heavily to my personality. Or, it
| could be that I don't think I spend a single day not having a
| niggling awareness of our inevitable end. Either way, it's not
| my scene.
| prometheus76 wrote:
| Prayer and meditation help you deal with that exact anxiety.
| May you find peace in your journey.
