       | That is, women have the complaint that society (like Jeffery
       | Epstein) values young women and sees older woman as disposable. A
       | major task of feminism is to proclaim that "women's lives matter"
       | throughout the entire lifecycle.
       |
       | Girls are basking in the glow of being valued for what they are
       | valued for and don't want to hear a damn thing about how they'll
       | feel when they are 45 so they've never been inclined to join up
       | with the feminist movement. Thus the "girl power" pandering which
       | effaces the political message of feminism.

         | They embraced a common diminutive as a metonym for a woman.
         | This is commonly used as an act of empowerment, e.g. "queer",
         | "gay", "yankee". "Girl power" is in the same genre. It elevates
         | women rather than diminishes girls. It's more of a linguistic
         | power move than a failure of purity.
