       | This has been going on for some time but we already heard plenty
       | of issues from salary, working hours and benefits etc. But I do
       | hope it works out in the end.

       | I wonder how many will hesitate or not apply due to current
       | political heat between Taiwan and China -- and the continual
       | rumors that China is planning an amphibious invasion of Taiwan.
       | Probably not so much that TSMC will have problems hiring the
       | personnel needed for this project but I'll bet the concerned set
       | is non-zero.

       | We, in the US, did the same 5 years ago although with engineers
       | from China (not Taiwan). I personally trained several Chinese
       | process engineers but the length of stay in US was ~3 months. Had
       | to take a Chinese Culture class in the US due to differences
       | between US and Chinese culture - mainly around 'saving the face'.
       | I had to buddy-up with a Chinese engineer for 3 months, teach
       | them _everything_ about our process technology (backend Fab and
       | Assembly, that 's as much detail as I can give). They had access
       | to all whitepapers, historical data, and even exposed to LRPs
       | (long range plans). At this time around 2015, I was increasingly
       | getting concerned about this. Even more concerning was that - I
       | was part of one of the most secretive programs (approx 80
       | engineers involved in this program with a $2B ROI) which was then
       | transferred to China - both talent and equipment. There are no
       | US-Fabs in China, but you can guess what this might be. I also
       | took part in bringing up this technology up to production in
       | China during a 2 month trip there. Looking back, all this is just
       | insane. That said, I had a lot of fun and everyone was extremely
       | talented, motivated and respectful. Sorry for intentionally being
       | vague, can give more details to press if interested.

       | Sounds like a great adventure. Would love to join if I were an

       | That's a nice little benefit. Tainan is an interesting city.
