| Why would anyone use this over the much better designed NOAA

| Jeez you created an account just to throw shade on this site?
| Come on..

| I didn't mean to sound glib. I'm sorry. I just didn't find
| anything new on the site and wanted to know if maybe I missed

| Thanks for clarifying. I think there are better ways to ask
| a question like that (eg. "what differentiates x from
| y.."). It's also built on an assumption: looking at those
| two sites side by side, there's nothing glaringly obvious
| that one is "much better designed" than the other.
|
| One thing I try to remember is that this site is probably
| something someone loves and takes pride in. It's fine to
| offer a critique and constructive crits, but I try to
| remember that a sharp comment like that (without much
| seemingly obvious interest in an answer) can be super tough
| for the designer.

| I get that people might have their esteem tied up in
| their work, but there's no post explaining what they were
| after, no intent, and unless you created the site I see
| no defense of its merit. I could have been less sharp,
| but my question still stands.

| For one, NOAA shows a US-centric aurora view while SWL shows a
| mercator projection. And it has a much nicer dashboard.
