| Easy to do with edibles, especially with purified THC that can
| take some time to be noticeable... You had enough with the first
| bit; but then you ate the rest of the sack waiting for it to come
| on. and then you're on a ride.
|
| Also people might be chasing their tolerance up gently, without
| noticing, to the point where they're "crossing the bump" to more
| blatant physiological effects.
|
| The question of additives and just what's being sold in vapes and
| edibles is valid too. Flower is not economical to fake, making
| your own extracts with ethanol is easy and getting less pure
| extract is better. in my opinion.

| I've stayed away from edibles and vapes. I can barely take a
| small enough pull off a vape to not cough almost immediately.
| And I don't like the idea of "flavors" being added to it.
|
| Gummies are the same. I can't really control the dose like I
| can by smoking and I don't like the idea that I might over do
| it and have to ride it out.

| Don't buy, make your own tinctures.

| I had to stop smoking (regularly) over a decade ago due to
| kidney disease, and I was leery of edibles until I switched
| to ordering resin and CBD to make concentrated stocks that
| were easy to get working solutions out of.
|
| After how great an experience it was, I firmly decided I'd
| never smoke/vape again.

| As long time user I think this can almost certainly be explained
| by excessive smoke inhalation. Tobacco smoke can cause nausea &
| vomiting and even wildfire smoke can cause nausea, and I'd expect
| vomiting as well if you huffed enough of it.
|
| When I was a pre-teen I vomited once after smoking way too many
| cigarettes and when I was a teen I vomited once after taking way
| too many giant bong hits. Back then we had daily competitions to
| see who could take and "press" the biggest hits. We were kids,
| and we were stupid.
|
| The key to smoking today's weed is to sip a very small puff of
| it. I can certainly see how one could cause themselves to vomit
| if they haven't figured that out.

| It would be interesting to see if it occurs more/less often in

| A few comments seem to be referring to situations where too much
| THC is ingested which is certainly becoming more common due to
| the availability of THC both with legalization of d9 and the
| legal gray area of d8
|
| But this article is referring to a much different condition:
| cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome[1]. CHS occurs in long term
| heavy users eg smoking every day for a year or more. This recent
| increase feels more like a result of the COVID lockdowns - it is
| not hard to imagine many occasional users of marijuana switching
| to every day use after getting stuck at home

| It seems very likely. This illness started manifesting itself

| CHS is not new - it was first reported in 2004: https://en.wi

| Unlikely, but there may still be a contamination or fraud issue
| like what lead to the horrible lipid pneumonia scare.
|
| [?]8 doesn't cause vomiting, even at high doses or when not
| balanced with CBD. If people are using products that have
| flavorants and aromatics (including terps) or sweeteners, I'd
| be much more suspect of those.
