       | I have been employed in software development for almost 10 years

       | specialist in databases and a good generalist in most other
       | areas. I built myself as a T-shaped developer. I have worked

       | experience with everything from relational algebra theory (I

       | developed a systemic viewpoint and an ability to understand how
       | different components of a project and different teams interact
       | together, all in order to walk the path of technical leadership.
       | As a true engineer, I understand the importance of measuring
       | before changing. Also, I am a sociable person and I have a
       | teaching degree and have taught on numerous occasions with
       | excellent results. Currently I am learning Solidity.

       | I'm finishing up my masters and plan to defend my masters thesis

       | Hello! I am looking for a junior software-engineering role. I
       | have about 3 years of experience in full-stack web development
       | and am particularly comfortable with JavaScript-based
       | environments.
       |
       | I prefer working in organisations that do not produce negative
       | social impacts. I am looking for stability and would very much
       | appreciate resources for personal development, ongoing
       | interesting problems to solve, mentorship, and a pathway for
       | growth.
       |
       | ====================
       |
       | Other things of potential relevance: - I have
       | basic knowledge of Python, some machine learning frameworks, and
       | SQL. Currently learning Rust -- just mentioning in case there is
       | an off chance that I could learn on the job. - I have a
       | background in chemistry and I recently did some applied machine
       | learning work for about a year. For these reasons, I would
       | happily work in data and/or research-related roles, too. -
       | I am self-taught. I'm only noting this because some people prefer
       | knowing that up-front. I don't just "write code that works" and
       | forget about it. - Honesty is important to me, and I expect
       | that to be reciprocated.
       |
       | Any feedback that is not job-offer related would also be very
       | much appreciated! :)

       | Thanks to user Decide for the following format:
       |
       | Hi, I'm Luke. I find satisfaction in working with geospatial
       | stuff and on tricky responsive interface problems, figuring out
       | how to work with old code or new codebases through testing and
       | troubleshooting, as well as learning from my colleagues and
       | teaching when I can.
       |
       | WHY TO HIRE LUKE: I'm persistent when it comes to
       | solving problems and troubleshooting, and consider myself fairly
       | good at it; though I know there's a lot I can learn. I've done so
       | on one major website that serves billions in transactions
       | annually and for a tiny website that hosts research datasets.
       | I like to challenge myself technically and in terms of
       | responsibility; probably not a rare thing to find here on HN.
       | I'm approachable, and enjoy collaboration with others. Lean more
       | extrovert, and am comfortable in crowds. Also very welcoming of
       | advice; feedback and practice are the major ways to improve.
       | You want someone who is great in emergencies. I don't tend to
       | panic, and have experience resolving issues that legitimately
       | demand attention. You want someone who thinks testing with
       | users in real-world settings is worthwhile. You need
       | someone who values their own spoken communication skills. I have
       | no experience in public speaking exactly, but I feel like I do ok
       | when discussing or explaining things in a group context and find
       | that it's an important thing to improve.
       |
       | WHY NOT TO HIRE LUKE: You need someone to
       | communicate with customers or handle support inquires daily; not
       | communication in general, just timely replies on a short cadence.
       | This is not a strong point for me. You can't let me have
       | any agency over when or how I do work, and that work has little
       | variety to it over a number of quarters. I'm a hard/smart worker,
       | but I'm very cautious of burnout, and need to pick my battles
       | carefully. You want someone with experience in management
       | or lots of leadership. I'm interested in taking on some higher
       | level responsibilities, but I don't yet have those skills.
       | You want someone who has desirable stress responses to artificial
       | emergencies (crunch time to make arbitrarily chosen tight
       | deadline). What makes me good in real emergencies also makes me
       | awful in imaginary ones (crunch time because of ill-considered
       | deadlines). You want someone who's been grinding leetcode
       | problems. I have a brief and recent exposure to academic DS&A
       | material, am interested in the subject and can build a priority
       | queue from scratch, but I haven't yet passed Amazon's coding test
       | :) (I also have a copy of CTCI, but it's rotting on a shelf)

       | Hello! My name is Vitor, and I wake up with a big smile when I
       | have new software to code!
       |
       | I have been developing software for more than 15 years now. From
       | these 15 years, the first 6 I've worked for a Fortune 50 company,
       | where I led a development team, while overseeing external
       | companies building software for us as well, sometimes with
       | multimillion budgets. I left the company in search of more
       | freedom, and since then, I've worked with ~100 different
       | companies around the world, mostly remotely.
       |
       | When working and making decisions about the process about to be
       | digitalized, I really enjoy looking at the "big picture", like
       | not only thinking the time to deliver the software but also how
       | hard it will be to maintain the sofware I'm going to code, and
       | then deciding the best path; sometimes it means coding from
       | scratch, sometimes it means customizing great, proven open-source
       | software. Whatever is the simpler way to solve that business
       | problem. Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
       |
       | Nowadays I prefer to use JavaScript or Python, but I still code
       | in PHP, .Net (VB, C#, ASP), C++ and Java, now and then - whatever
       | is needed for the task at hand. I've worked on all kinds of
       | verticals: Oil, banking, eCommerce, Medical, eLearning, and many
       | more that are harder to categorize.
       |
       | I'm super responsive. I also speak Portuguese and Spanish. I'm on
