| One of the most frustrating things about the "Google-era" (I call
| it that because they were one of the first to play it like this,
| as early as the mid 2000s) of tech companies is this weird,
| frankenstein model of running their products where users and even
| paying customers are left with no contact or recourse when
| falling victim to highly imperfect automated moderation tools
| (course I don't mean to insinuate that there's no abuse on some
| users' part but false positives are pretty prevalent). When it's
| coupled with psychologically manipulative automated support
| emails pretending to have been written by humans and sent with
| artifical delays - or just appeal options that flat out don't
| work, it's understandable that it would eventually come to this.
|
| I have been banned for days from Facebook for pictures of pets
| somehow being detected as sexual content and my only recourse,
| clicking the appeal button, did absolutely nothing for example.
|
| Multiple creators who got banned from YouTube in automated
| moderation rounds despite not breaking ToS have published email
| exchanges with the platform that were just thinly disguised
| automated emails.
|
| I don't know what a true solution is here, I am not smart enough
| but it cannot continue on like this, I don't think.
