What you get in the stack

The Monaco demo is the full Corviont stack in miniature: a MapLibre
UI talking to local APIs for tiles, routing, and geocoding - all
running in Docker on your machine or edge device.

What we're building next

The Monaco demo is the first step. It's the same architecture we'll
use for larger regions and real fleets - here's what's on the way:

 Local map updater

A small background service that pulls new map bundles, verifies them,
and switches the active dataset without downtime.

 Custom overlays

Load your own POIs, geofences, or operational layers (GeoJSON) on top
of the base map, rendered directly in the UI.

 Richer geocoding output

Better address results with house numbers, and optional geometry for
streets and areas (not just centrepoints) in forward and reverse
search.

 More edge platforms & targets

First-class integrations for Portainer and Mender, plus deployment
examples for K3s/Kubernetes and edge runtimes on AWS and Azure.

Frequently Asked Questions

  * 1. Is everything really offline?
    
    Yes. After the images are pulled and the stack is running, tiles,
    routing, and geocoding are served from your own containers. No
    external map or routing APIs are required. 
   
  * 2. What will the pricing look like?
    
    Pricing isn't final yet, but the plan is a simple, fleet-friendly
    model: a per-device licence, with the ability to choose which
    regions you need. No per-request or per-route fees.
   
  * 3. How are open-source licences and legal requirements handled?
    
    Corviont Maps bundles open-source components (such as Valhalla
    and MapLibre) under their respective licences. Map data is
    derived from OpenStreetMap and made available under the ODbL 1.0
    licence, with "(c) OpenStreetMap contributors" attribution shown in
    the UI and referenced in the docs. The goal is that you can embed
    the stack without worrying about missing attributions or hidden
    licence gotchas. 
   
  * 4. Can I use my own frontend instead of the included MapLibre UI?
    
    Definitely. The MapLibre UI is just one way to interact with the
    stack. Your own frontend or backend can talk directly to the
    tiles, routing, and geocoding HTTP endpoints.
