The clinical brand has introduced Sun-Screener, a free online tool designed to help consumers decode the ingredients in their SPF products and navigate the widespread misinformation surrounding sun protection, particularly the use of the term 'mineral'. Mineral sunscreens are often marketed as gentler alternatives to chemical formulas, making them a popular choice for those with sensitive skin, pregnant women, or consumers seeking reef-safe or natural options. Yet, despite their appeal, not all products labelled 'mineral' are created equal. Some rely on vague phrases like "mineral-based" or "enriched with minerals" while still leaning heavily on chemical UV filters. Others may feature zinc oxide or titanium dioxide in trace amounts, misleading consumers into believing the formula is exclusively mineral. Sun-Screener tool Enter Sun-Screener. By pasting an ingredient list into the online analyser, users receive a detailed breakdown of their sunscreen's active components: whether it uses mineral or chemical filters (or both), which UV boosters are present, and what role each inactive ingredient plays. The tool also explains how each filter works, outlines its strengths and limitations, and notes whether it's approved for use in the US or EU. Sun-Screener results Developed in collaboration with cosmetic chemists Rebecca Perry and Ava Perkins, Sun-Screener draws from peer-reviewed data to provide insights into more than 35 UV filters, from zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to avobenzone and octocrylene. An accompanying glossary offers accessible explanations of sunscreen formulations, the distinction between mineral and chemical filters, and the types of UV radiation consumers need to be aware of. Founded in New York City in 2020, Dieux combines expertise in brand strategy, cosmetic chemistry, and community building to deliver a science-driven, transparent approach to skincare. The brand champions rigorous clinical vetting, ethical sourcing, and vegan, cruelty-free practices, and is best known for its product transparency -- breaking down each product's formula, clinical testing, recyclability, and sustainability impact. The brand's bestsellers include the Instant Angel Moisturizer, a rich cream formulated to support skin recovery and maintain a healthy barrier, and the Forever Eye Mask, a set of lightweight, reusable patches that hold skincare products in place to enhance absorption and maximise results. Sun-Screener is now available at dieuxskin.com. * Cosmetics * Skincare Spread The Word Recommended * Tammy, Amy, and Emilee Hembrow The Hembrow Sisters Launch Selfish Supps A new sports nutrition brand prioritising women Wellness 13 hours ago * Dr. Squatch lineup Unilever to Acquire Dr. Squatch Strengthening the consumer giant's position in the premium grooming category Mergers & Acquisitions 1 day ago * Sciton Omni Laser Sciton Launches Omni A next-generation hair removal device for all skin types and treatment areas Treatments 2 days ago * Cosrx Peptide-132 Ultra Perfect Hair Bonding Oil Serum Cosrx Expands into Haircare The K-beauty brand is bringing its skincare science to a new category Haircare 2 days ago * Dividends Skincare Meet Dividends, the New Brand Redefining Men's Skincare Products built on performance, clarity, and long-term returns Skincare 5 days ago * Skin Burnout Your Expert Guide to Skin Burnout We talk causes, signs, and solutions Skincare 6 days ago * Amy Ford Hello Sunday Interview Interview: Amy Ford of Hello Sunday We talked business, beauty, and the making of a bestselling suncare brand Interview 7 days ago * Dolce & Gabbana Skincare Collection Dolce & Gabbana Quietly Launches Skincare Collection Pre-makeup skincare, the Dolce way Skincare 7 days ago Home About Us Privacy Terms Advertising Contact (c) 2025 BeautyNewsDaily Subscribe to our newsletter Stay up-to-date with the latest from BeautyNewsDaily.
