kernel and musl runtime library.
We focus on reliability, security, compatibility, portability, and
usability.

We don't attempt to solve every Linux Desktop problem. Because of
this, we've already solved 99% of them. You can count on your desktop
to be there for you, no matter the task or time.


In fact, Adelie's existence was borne of the observation that desktop
distros were unreliable.


Adelie's efficiency lends itself to working well on legacy systems,
too.

Security and reliability are not optional

Security updates are nearly instant. No unnecessary services run,
period. Services are managed by the world-class supervision software,
s6, designed to do one thing and to do it well. If an application
misbehaves, it's stopped in its tracks before it can cause harm.


Adelie does not claim to provide magical security protections.
Instead, it provides everything you need to rest assured knowing
there are no surprises. Because you deserve to know the truth.

Research is the responsible way forward

Adelie isn't satisfied with just being a Linux distribution. While it
is important to contribute bug fixes and patches to upstream software
projects and provide a reliable experience for our users, we care
deeply about bringing industry-leading software to musl, and musl to
the forefront of science.


We are pursuing partnerships and collaborations with universities and
research organizations to solve tomorrow's problems using musl-based
distributions. We hope to publish some of our work.


Linux is installed on every single TOP500 supercomputer. Linux
