I've missed this completely. Linux is exposing oom_kill value in the
/proc/vmstat. It's there since 2.6.36.

It is read by node exporter as node_vmstat_oom_kill metric.

It may be obvious for most people, but my old way was to detect OOMs
through parsing of kernel messages (dmesg), and it was complicated,
slow and a bit unreliable.

It's much easier to test and to react.

With Linux 6.6 been released I'm a bit slow to notice it. But it's
better now, then never.
