https://gagoot.com/sos.txt Facing Imminent Homelessness, GAGOOT Developer Seeks Project Funding To Whom It May Concern: I am the founder of GAGOOT. This is an SOS, a message in a bottle, a last-ditch effort to fix my immediate problems, and to potentially give GAGOOT a shot at a future. I am in my fifties, and reside in the United States. I have been using computers since 1980, and the Internet since 1985. I have worked in a variety of capacities, utilizing PCs to mainframes. I currently perform short-term consulting gigs, but am looking to make GAGOOT my full-time job. By "consulting gigs", I mean that people or companies tell me the problem that they need solved, then I analyze the problem, design a solution, and write a program to implement said solution, usually running on a Windows/Linux PC/server. For most of my adult life, I have been been able to provide for myself, but the last few years have been very difficult. Whenever I am working on a project, I am waiting to get paid for the previous one, as well as trying to find the next one, and each "next one" has felt harder to obtain. As a result, I've fallen behind on most of my bills, and now expect to soon be evicted from my home. I am passionate about GAGOOT, so much so that I can see myself working on it for the rest of my life, pretty much to the exclusion of all else, but I have not been able to devote serious attention to it due to this constant struggle to simply survive, a struggle which I am about to lose without some assistance. I could write much more about these issues, but I don't want this to turn into a sob story. The bottom line is that I need around $9,000 to get out of my current predicament, and then a few thousand every month to get by, while I give GAGOOT the level of attention that it deserves. Failing the above, as a last resort, I am willing to sell all 77 of the domains that I obtained for this project, including "getgagoot.com", "gagoot.com", and 75 others of the form "gagoot.*". If I sell these, and then later get a chance to work on GAGOOT, I'll express my ideas under a different project name. However, I really like this one, and would prefer to not have to sell the domains. For reference, I have preserved the last version of GAGOOT's website, a single webpage, frozen in time on 2022OCT25. If you have any trouble viewing [https://gagoot.com], try the PDF version [https://gagoot.com/index.pdf]. Since then, the following items have changed, or are currently irrelevant. The GoFundMe was terminated by GFM, before it received any money, due to an unspecified violation of their ToS. I am currently not using the indicated chat systems, or the indicated crypto address. I do still maintain minimal activity on the indicated social network, FSE. My attorney, who I wanted to handle the money, as a means of showing my seriousness to donors, has left the project due to other priorities. I don't know if my idea for a governing board, a "non-corporate coalition of entities", is viable as a means to grow GAGOOT beyond myself, but I still want to explore the possibilities. Below is my preferred pseudonym for use with GAGOOT. For financial transactions, I will provide, via return email, my legal name and other information required. For my current situation, I prefer Zelle and wire transfers, as both go directly to my bank account, thus preventing the kinds of issues that can crop up with crypto, PayPal, GoFundMe, GiveSendGo, and other such indirect methods, each of which requires jumping through the hoops of yet another layer of bureaucracy. When you email, include what kind of help you are willing to provide, as well as whatever comments or questions you may have. If your assistance comes in the form of money, indicate the amount that you want to donate, as well as your preferred payment method. Lastly, I want to say "thank you", in advance, to every person who helps me during this time of dire need, whether said help is financial, or by spreading this message, or in some other form. This has been very difficult for me to write, and as a result, perhaps I've put it off for too long, but I hope that my pride has not made it too late to right the ship. Sincerely, Duris Acron founder@gagoot.com 2023APR11
