The closest to this for me is In Death Unchained, a medieval fantasy game where you fight all kinds of knights and medieval creatures in castle like environments floating in the skies. It's not quite as massive as this, but considering it's running on a mobile SoC, it's very immersive and makes you feel tiny when you're in game. I tried the Steam VR homes with Oculus Quest + link cable and it was awesome. Just to be in a virtual space, to look around. The movie studios could cash in on this. Just let people "be" and explore spaces from their favorite movies. I guess maybe it just doesn't sell, you need something "to do" for people to give them a sense that it's worth the money? Or maybe it is that it's too new, and for the time being, developers just can't be satsified in making such experiences as they want to play out their every fantasy and focus on making fantasies (like "chop heads off barbarians in an arena" , or "climb the side of the mountain", or "jump off the plank" ). It wouldn't be hard to make games where you just look around and search and find objects for example. It's just wasn't viable for the average person. Our local VR arcade closed after ~6months. I think that still leaves it as too exclusive for movie studios to invest in. The tech would all already have to be developed for them to get in the game.
