For example, Robert Venturi's 1991 Pritzker Prize award ignored his longstanding partner and wife, Denise Scott Brown. In 2013, over 20,000 people signed a petition asking the Pritzker Committee to recognize Ms. Scott Brown. The Committee declined. Eva Hagberg, who has worked as both an architecture writer and publicist, notes that other powerful women in architecture, such as Olgivanna Lloyd Wright, who ran her husband Frank's foundation for a quarter-century after his death, or Walter Gropius's gifted wife, Ise, have faded from the historical record. Ms. Hagberg's "When Eero Met His Match" is a bid to ensure that will not be the fate of Aline Louchheim Saarinen, the second wife of the Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen. That is "Eero (pronounced arrow) Saarinen (rhymes with far-'n-then)," as Time magazine helpfully explained in its 1956 cover story.
