About the role

The role

As our Sr. Software Engineer you will play a critical role in:

  * Designing, implementing, deploying, and maintaining APIs that
    serve the Zeit mobile and web application clients.
  * Working with the ML team on building the ML infrastructure and
    tooling for both the production ML service but also the ML R&D
    environment.
  * Building and operating the cloud infrastructure for both ML
    systems and web / mobile apps (ideally via infra as code).
  * Collaborating with front-end developers to deliver performant and
    scalable web + mobile applications.

Experience requirements:

General

  * Excellent coding standards and style
  * Strong communication skills
  * Ability to take ownership of projects and self-direct

Backend software development

  * Experience developing APIs for web apps
  * Database provisioning, operating, scaling, migrating
  * SQL query fluency
  * Writing unit tests and integration tests
  * CI / CD experience
  * Experience developing internal APIs (preferred)

MLOps

  * Pipeline automation (tools e.g. MLFlow, Kubeflow, TFX, Argo)
  * Setting and operating cloud-hosted ML experimentation envs (e.g.
    JupyterHub)
  * Experience with managed ML platforms like SageMaker (preferred)
  * Understanding ML model development lifecycle

Cloud Infra

  * Solid experience with AWS
  * Experience with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) tools such as
    Terraform
  * Logging, monitoring, observability (e.g. DataDog)
  * Docker
  * Deployment strategies
  * Securing infra, access controls
  * Kubernetes (preferred)

Languages

Python, YAML, Javascript (preferred)

Tools

git, Github, shell scripting, shell command-line fluency
