No. 15. Crucible Furnace. This will take crucibles up to 4×3½ inches, holding about six pounds when full, and with ½ inch gas pipe, and a pressure of gas supplying about 50 feet per hour, will melt a crucible of gold, silver or brass in about 30 minutes, and the same quantity of cast iron in about 60 minutes from the time the gas is first lighted. It is made in a very substantial manner, and is recommended as a first-rate furnace for manufacturing jewelers, reducing photo waste, etc. The lid can be lifted away by a handle provided for the purpose.
