Recommendations when using this release Follow the Installation Guide for the OfficeConnect Gateway. For ease of use and installation, it is recommended that the Gateway is used as a DHCP Server. This is the default configuration for the Gateway. In the interests of security, the administration password should be changed from the default setting. If using Wireless, 3Com recommends enabling WEP and Connection Control to enhance the security. The user should avoid configuring the Wireless settings of the Gateway from a wireless client. In particular, if the user disables wireless networking, then the connection will be lost. The user will have to use a wired connection to re-enable wireless networking. ________________________________________________________________________________ 4. Known problems with this release Recent configuration changes may not be saved if the Gateway is power cycled. Users should wait 30 seconds before power cycling the Gateway. This is not an issue when applying a software reset from the Gateway menu. Special Applications have a 5 minute time-out period. A second user will have to wait 5 minutes after the first user has finished with the Special Application before they may use it. Not all software applications are designed to pass through the NAT firewall. Users are advised to check with the software vendors website for advice on how to make their software work with firewalls. ________________________________________________________________________________ 5. Installing this release Instructions for installing this firmware : 1. Ensure the Gateway is powered and a link is established with the host PC. 2. Ensure that the latest version of the Gateway software is located on the host PC. The latest version of the software can be obtained from the 3Com Web site. 3.
