Instructions for upgrading the 3Com 11 Mbps Wireless LAN PC Card with XJACK Antenna, part number 3CRWE62092B, from software version 2.0 to software version 2.1 IMPORTANT: The instructions below assume that you currently have the 3CRWE62092B card installed with software version 2.0. Do not uninstall the existing 3CRWE62092B Card driver before installing the new version 2.1 driver. Microsoft Windows 98SE and Windows Me users will however need to uninstall the 3Com Wireless LAN Manager Software before installing the new version. Microsoft Windows 98SE and Windows Me Users: Do NOT proceed with the software version 2.1 installation if you are not sure of your current Wireless LAN Profile settings and confident that you can rebuild the existing profiles! Follow the instructions below to complete the upgrade. You should print the instructions first. NOTE: If the 3CRWE6209B Card has never been installed in your laptop refer to the 3CRWE62092B User Guide for installation instructions for using software version 2.1. NOTE: The 3CRWE62092B driver must be upgraded first before upgrading the 3Com Launcher and Wireless LAN Manager software. NOTE: If you have previously installed the "3Com Wireless 802.1X Agent" for 3Com Serial Authentication remove the program "3Com NDIS 5.1 802.1x Client Tools" from Add/Remove Programs before installing the 3Com Launcher. Upgrade the driver in Microsoft Windows XP: 1. If you are using Windows Classic View Go to START>CONTROL PANEL>and double click the SYSTEM icon If you are using Windows XP Category View Go to START>CONTROL PANEL>PERFORMANCE AND MAITENANCE> and double click the SYSTEM icon 2. Select the HARDWARE tab 3. Click DEVICE MANGER 4. Under NETWORK ADAPTERS double click the 3COM 3CRWE62092B WIRELESS LAN PC CARD 5. Select the DRIVER tab 6. Click UPDATE DRIVER 7. Select INSTALL FROM A LIST OR SPECIFIC LOCATION and click NEXT 8. Select DON"T SEARCH. I WILL CHOOSE THE DRIVER TO INSTALL and click NEXT 9. Click HAVE DISK 10. Click BROWSE and browse to the location of the latest driver. NOTE: The default extraction location for software version 2.1 is C:\3Com \3CRWE62092B and the latest drivers are located in the drivers folder 11. Click OPEN 12. Click OK 13. Under NETWORK ADAPTER select the 3COM 3CRWE62092B WIRELESS LAN PC CARD and click NEXT 14. If you receive an Update Driver Warning message click YES to continue with the installation 15. If you receive a message indicating the software has not passed Windows Logo testing click CONTINUE ANYWAY to continue with the installation 16. Click FINISH when the installation has completed 17. Click CLOSE to close the Device Manager, System Properties, and Performance and Maintenance Windows 18. Follow the instructions below to upgrade the 3Com Launcher and Wireless LAN Manager Upgrade the 3Com Launcher in Microsoft Windows XP: 1. Double click the SETUP.EXE icon included in the software version 2.1 download. Default extraction location is C:\3Com\3CRWE62092B 2. From the 3Com 11Mbps Wireless LAN Menu click STEP 2: INSTALL SOFTWARE 3. Click NEXT 4. Click YES to accept the license agreement 5. Click NEXT to accept the install location 6. Click NEXT to accept the program folder 7. Select TYPICAL and click NEXT 8. Select the programs that you want to start automatically every time you reboot and click NEXT 9. Click YES to override the Windows XP wireless LAN configuration utility 10. Select the Country where the 3CRWE62092B card will be used and click OK 11. Click FINISH when the installation has completed Upgrade the driver in Microsoft Windows 2000 1. Go to START>SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL and double click the SYSTEM icon 2. Select the HARDWARE tab 3. Click DEVICE MANGER 4. Under NETWORK ADAPTERS double click the 3COM 3CRWE62092B WIRELESS LAN PC CARD 5. Select the DRIVER tab 6. Click UPDATE DRIVER 7. Click NEXT 8. Select DISPLAY A LIST OF KNOWN DRIVERS FOR THIS DEVICE SO THAT I CAN CHOOSE A SPECIFIC DRIVER and click NEXT 9. Click HAVE DISK 10. Click BROWSE and browse to the location of the latest driver. NOTE: The default extraction location for software version 2.1 is C:\3Com \3CRWE62092B and the latest drivers are located in the drivers folder 11. Click OPEN 12. Click OK 13. In the NETWORK ADAPTER box select the 3COM 3CRWE62092B WIRELESS LAN PC CARD and click NEXT 14. Click NEXT 15. If you receive a Digital Signature Not Found message click YES to continue the installation 16. Click FINISH when the installation has completed 17. Follow the instructions below to upgrade the 3Com Launcher and Wireless LAN Manager Upgrade the 3Com Launcher in Microsoft Windows 2000: 1. Double click the SETUP.EXE icon included in the software version 2.1 download. Default extraction location is C:\3Com\3CRWE62092B 2. Under MODELS select the 3COM 3CRWE62092B WIRELESS LAN PC CARD and click OK 13. Click NEXT to continue the installation 14. Insert Windows CD if prompted to do so (ex. D:\Win98) and click OK 15. Click FINISH when the installation has completed 16. Restart your computer when prompted 17. Follow the instructions below to upgrade the 3Com Launcher and Wireless LAN Manager Upgrade the 3Com Launcher in Microsoft Windows 98SE and Microsoft Windows Me: NOTE: You must first uninstall Wireless LAN Manager and remove all Wireless LAN profiles before installing the software version 2.1 in Microsoft Windows 98SE, and Windows Me. Default extraction location is C:\3Com\3CRWE62092B 10. From the 3Com 11Mbps WLAN Menu click STEP 2: INSTALL SOFTWARE 11. Click NEXT 12. Click YES to accept the license agreement 13.
