The Sound Boostar line of cards was produced by Vobis under the "Highscreen"
name. These are budget ISA cards designed to be as close to the SoundBlaster
hardware as possible (the sole name of the card is a strong indication of
that already).
The Sound Booster 16/32 cards do not require any TSR driver, but they do need
to be configured via software, though. The card's drivers allow to configure
I/O ports the card responds to, as well as volumes. The card provides a
SoundBlaster compatible API (usually under port 220h), as well as an OPL3
clone (388h) and WSS compatibility. Some variants even include an on-board
wavetable reachable via the standard MPU-401 UART.
