The Brooklyn, N.S., native's best throw came in her first attempt, reaching 19.89 metres. Jessica Schilder, of the Netherlands captured the top spot with a winning throw of 20.89. Chase Jackson of the United States finished behind with a best throw of 19.91. Arop 2nd in men's 800m Edmonton's Marco Arop was second in his season-opening men's 800 metres on Sunday in Sweden, stopping the clock in one minute 43.11 seconds. The 27-year-old is a three-time world championship medallist (one gold, two bronze) and Olympic silver medallist. Cooper Lutkenhaus of the United States placed first in Sunday's race in 1:42.70, his first 800 race of the outdoor campaign. Algeria's Slimane Moula crossed the finish line third in a 1:43.41 season best. "I was happy with my race, the first race for a while, I just wanted to see where I was at, and it went just as well as it could have gone," Arop told reporters after the race. "It was my first race against Cooper — I was excited about it, and he showed how strong he is today. He is going to be a special talent." Duplantis loses for 1st time in 3 years at home event Swedish star Armand "Mondo" Duplantis suffered his first loss in the pole vault since 2023 at his home event in Stockholm. In his outdoor season opener, Duplantis cleared 5.80 metres, 51 centimetres lower than his latest world record, but failed twice at 6.00 and once at 6.05. Kurtis Marschall of Australia won with a vault of 5.90. "I felt a bit unfocused today," Duplantis said in a story posted to olympics.com, "and I really did not want to lose here in front of my family and fans.
