bail

   A two-day bail hearing has been set for a Calgary man accused
   of helping alleged Canadian drug lord Ryan Wedding set up the
   murder of an FBI informant.
   Allistair Chapman’s court appearance in Calgary took place
   Friday morning, at the same time the FBI announced Wedding’s
   arrest in Mexico.
   Chapman is seeking release ahead of his extradition hearing, a
   date for which has not yet been set. Defence lawyer Chad
   Haggerty appeared in court Friday and set a bail hearing for
   Feb. 4 and 5.
   Wedding is a former Team Canada Olympic
   snowboarder-turned-fugitive who was listed on the FBI’s 10 most
   wanted list. There had been a $15 million reward for
   information leading to his arrest and capture.

   FBI Director Kash Patel announced Friday that Wedding was taken
   into custody Thursday night and was being transported from
   Mexico to the U.S.
   Chapman is alleged to be a member of the “Wedding Criminal
   Enterprise," according to the unsealed federal grand jury
   indictment. He was arrested on extradition warrants in
   November.

Witness murdered in restaurant

   He faces charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine,
   conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to retaliate against a
   witness and other organized crime offences.
   On top of his trafficking charges, U.S. authorities allege that
   Chapman helped Wedding set up the murder of an FBI informant.
   Chapman is accused of providing a photo of the informant to one
   of his co-accused and paying him to post it to the website
   Dirty News so the witness “could be located and killed” before
   he could testify against Wedding.
   That witness was shot in the head five times in a restaurant in
   Colombia three months after his photo was posted online.
