# Starting Seeds - Part 2 2022-03-24 This is the second round of many starting seeds for transplantation into a place in the garden. Today I started about 20 Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) plants as seed. I'll let you know how it goes. # Vital stats 1. licorice a. Perennial b. Stratify 21 days, then scarify or skuff the seed coat with 80-120 grit sandpaper, soak them overnight, and then plant c. Germinates in 7 - 14 days d. Soil: Well drained, alkaline, with full sun e. Requires about 30cm - 60cm, 12 - 24 inches, between plants. Up to 90cm or 3 feet tall. f. Harvest root in fall of second year
