and more possible that something disastrous could happen on U.S. soil that would make bugging out necessary. Here are a few ideas about why bug out planning and evasion are important that I can think of off the top of my head\'85 \par \b The president decided to stay in office: \b0 I know quite a few people think this is completely outrageous, but it is possible, {{\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK "http://www.truthandaction.org/ben-carson-repeatedly-warns-obama-may-use-martial-law-to-postpone-election/"}}{\fldrslt{\ul\cf1\cf1\ul even presidential hopeful Ben Carson thinks so.}}}}\f0\fs24 This could happen if the current president decided that conditions were too volatile to have an election and postpone it\'85do you think he would? He has shown time and time again he will do whatever he wants.\par \b Natural disasters:\b0 Hopefully {{\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK "http://survivalistprepper.net/spp007-surviving-natural-disasters/"}}{\fldrslt{\ul\cf1\cf1\ul a natural disaster}}}}\f0\fs24 would not be very long term and your options would not be as limited. Bugging out could mean going to a relative\rquote s house for a few weeks or living in a hotel. If this were an earthquake or massive flooding it could mean much longer.\par \b Nuclear disaster:\b0 This doesn\rquote t just mean {{\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK "http://survivalistprepper.net/nuclear-weapons-will-land-u-s-soil/"}}{\fldrslt{\ul\cf1\cf1\ul if someone decided to drop a bomb on U.S. soil}}}}\f0\fs24 , this could mean a meltdown at a nuclear power plant. Along with nuclear disasters there are other manmade disasters that could cause you to bug out like long term power outages or even the food and gasoline supply lines getting disrupted.\par \b Economic collapse:\b0 You might think that the last thing you would want to do in {{\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK "http://survivalistprepper.net/economic-collapse-setting-precedence/"}}{\fldrslt{\ul\cf1\cf1\ul an economic collapse}}}}\f0\fs24 would be to bug out, but if you pay rent or mortgage and don\rquote t have the means to pay, you might not have a choice. If we do this, we are no better off than the sheeple who have their heads buried in the sand ignoring the problems that are standing right in front of them.\par \pard\sb100\sa100 In the video below I go through what we need to keep in mind when we think about bugging out, how bugging out is different for urban, suburban and rural settings and my technique for planning a bug out route.\par \pard\keepn\sb100\sa100\b\fs36 Bug Out Planning\par \pard\sb100\sa100\fs24 Getting Family Together:\b0 Thinking about what we would do ourselves is one thing, but getting the family together is an important part of bug out planning. If your family members are in different parts of the state, you will need to have a plan to get everyone together and on the same page.\par \b Timing is Everything:\b0 Depending on where you live, the disaster scenario and the threats in your area timing is going to be critical. If you leave too late the roads could be packed and danger could be everywhere. In a suburban area you might have a little more time, but in an urban area it\rquote s important to make quick decisions.\par \b Plan on Getting Separated:\b0 Everything we do when we plan our bug out route is to keep everyone together, but if we don\rquote t have a plan for when we get separated it could throw a monkey wrench into our plans.\par \b Avoid Refugee Routes:\b0 An integral part of bug out planning is planning where you are not going to go. The last thing you want to do is think you are safe, turn the corner and be right in the middle of a riot or run into a dead end. We also talk about avoiding highways and other funnel points in the video.\par \b Outside Communications:\b0 Your options are going to be limited in most scenarios, but we need to think about every option we might have available to get information about what is going on and where it is happening.\par \b The Mob Mentality:\b0 During a disaster most people lose every brain cell they have in their head and will do things they normally wouldn\rquote t do because everyone else is. This could also be called the herd mentality because when people can\rquote t figure out what to do, they look to see what others are doing.\par \b Expect the Unexpected:\b0 Even the best laid out plans fail so expect to have to make some decisions on the fly. A road you have traveled every day of your life without problems could be blocked the one day you really need to get through. Expect Murphy\rquote s law to be in full affect in situations like this.\par \b Be the Gray Man:\b0 The best way to get out of a dangerous situation is to fly under the radar. Being the grey man basically means being as unnoticeable and unremarkable as possible.
