The front page of our site has the best images from our message board photoshoppers. We have a highly trained team of editors selecting stuff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. B3ta never sleeps. Board member Chicago Dave has written a Windows program that gets the front page images and turns them into a screen saver that's always current. Is it really wicked? Yes. http://www.btinternet.com/~limpfish/b3taCollective... (BTW: Chicago Dave is a net god. Learn more in our interview later this issue.) ------------------------------------------------- : WHAT B3TA PEOPLE HAVE BEEN MAKING THIS WEEK #1 Football art protest, I'm sorry, Cows. >> Football fans are fucking scum << Do you hate the World Cup? B3ta boarder Thom Curtis does. He says, "I've defaced the flags of participant countries and have decided to let you all see." We suggest using this as wallpaper to wind up the footy lovers in your office. http://www.worldcuphate.tk/ >> Saying sorry with style << "I upset my brother with a harsh phone message", writes B3ta boarder Si, "He wasn't best pleased, so I made him this." It's charming. We wish you were OUR brother. http://www.angelfire.com/extreme3/grubnuts/Robin.h... >> Dancing cow udders ... with eyes << B3ta boarder Weebl has followed up his pie animation with this classy little number. There's not much plot but the special effects are amazing. http://www.pickingp.f9.co.uk/tot.swf ------------------------------------------------- : PAID PLUG Download and print Big Money. Net agency Poke have bunged us some cash to mention their latest project for Brilliant Industries. Vim van Haas (B.I. Use it. Thanks Tomsk. http://www.tomandphil.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/milkymo... >> Random Image Finder << Why wear out your brain thinking of words to type into Google Images when this handy gadget does it for you? Woo for Watty. http://ianwatt.dingojunction.com/ri/ >> Nonsensical animation << We get lots of submissions of stuff for the newsletter. This one has us foxed. It's a crap flash animation with a message of hatred for someone called Leon. Who is he? Its author Dave Barnes only tells us, "This is what happens when I avoid deadlines." Hmmm. We don't know who his employers are but they should stop giving him deadlines. http://www.mbarnes.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Leon.swf ------------------------------------------------- : HOW TO SPEND YOUR MONEY THIS WEEK Get cheap DVDs from Canada. "Following on from last week's Amazon.com thing", writes B3ta reader Robert Morrow, "I just thought you might be interested in this Canadian site. They sell DVDs even cheaper, and the prices include international P+P." Yep. He's right. It's bloody cheap. http://www.dvdboxoffice.com/ ------------------------------------------------- : BOOTLEG MP3 OF THE WEEK Celine Dion vs. Black Sabbath Each week we talk to the_dr at Boom Selection about his current favourite bootleg track. the_dr writes - "This Celine Dion vs. Black Sabbath mix is bloody awful. And that's why it's funny. http://makeashorterlink.com/ "Addictive from Truth Hurts isn't a bootleg, but it's beautiful - a pulsating Indian hip-hop beat with a great rap and understated soulful vocals. http://makeashorterlink.com/ "BTW: Our Eminem bootleg challenge is going great. We've had airplay on Radio 1 and apparently Eminem loves Marshall's Been Snookered" http://www.base58.com/withoutme/ ------------------------------------------------- : B3TA IMAGE CHALLENGE Results from Where Are They Now? Each week we run a competition to test your creative skills. We set a challenge and you open Photoshop and mess with our heads. Last week we wanted to know what had happened to washed up celebrities. http://b3ta.com/challenge/wherearetheynow/ We asked B3ta boarder Chicago Dave to judge the entries - here are his 3 faves. Chicago Dave writes - #1 "Davros advertising stairlifts. It's his perfect job. Think they should make this ad. I'd buy one." http://www.b3ta.com/board/1/5/6/5/9/1/ #2 "Tony Hart's Sept 11th picture. Hitler picking a flower or something." http://b3ta.com/challenge/hatefigure/ ------------------------------------------------- : CHICAGO DAVE INTERVIEW UK's hardest working uncredited photoshopper You might not know the name Chicago Dave, but you should - you've certainly seen his work. Remember the Queen Mum Yoda photo in your inbox? That was his. And the Queen as an England supporter. That was him too. As his work is now being regularly ripped off by the UK tabloids we thought it was time to give him a bit of credit and interview him. Q: Have you got any comments on The Sun tabloid using your Queen pics without a credit? A: I'm not bothered about the lack of credit, I don't really expect to be credited for making these stupid pics, though it's nice to get a mention sometimes. Getting it in The Sun is great and on page 3 too. As soon as I heard about it I told my mum to get one to stick on the fridge door. My only gripe is that it wasn't a double page spread. Q: Blimey - just looked at your site, and representatives of the Queen have asked you to remove stuff! A: Yeah The Official Custodian of her Royal Maj's Face (or something) has asked me to remove the defaced pic from my website, which I did, replacing with his email. Now he's asked me to remove the email asking me to remove the pics from my website, jeez. Q: Which of your other pics has gone round the world? A: There was a daft 'Mona Lisa goes topless' thing that I made many years ago, it spread all over place. Q: Er.. And are you from Chicago? A: Um... no, but St.Helens Dave sounds rubbish. Check out his stuff: http://www.limpfish.com/pics.php ------------------------------------------------- : STAR IN NEXT WEEK'S ISSUE Make something cool and tell us about it.
