NEEDLE OF RAIN

The Needle of Rain is the name given to the large craft associated
with repeated lake-area observations.

The name comes from the unusual localized rain and cloud phenomenon
associated with the craft. That rain phenomenon is not itself the
Needle of Rain.

The associated rain has been described as:

  thin enough to look artificial
  dense enough to hide whatever is behind it
  persistent when surrounding rain changes direction

Radio logs show a rising tone as the associated rain phenomenon forms.

Current working model:

  ONE LARGE CRAFT: the Needle of Rain
  ONE OR MORE SMALLER CRAFT: scout ships associated with it

The Needle may function as a carrier or mothership. That remains a
hypothesis, not an established fact.

The archive also preserves theories that the associated rain may show
the shape of something normally invisible, or that the event may be a
local expression of a fold in space. Those are interpretations, not
physical identifications.
