ORIGINS OF THE WORLD WIDE WEB

FACTUAL REFERENCE

The World Wide Web was created at CERN by Tim Berners-Lee as a system for linking
and retrieving information across networked computers. The architecture joined
several ideas that now feel ordinary: globally addressable documents, links
between them, a transfer protocol, a document format and client/server software.

The early Web did not replace the Internet. It was an application built on top
of Internet networking, alongside services such as email, FTP, Usenet and
Gopher.

This matters to the Nitetime argument because "the Internet" has never required
one interface. A feed is one interface among many, not the natural final form of
networked communication.
