GOPHER AND WEB ============== FACTUAL REFERENCE Gopher and the World Wide Web are different Internet information systems. Gopher presents resources through selectors and typed menu entries. The Web became dominant partly because HTML pages could combine links, formatted text and eventually rich media and application behavior in a single document model. Nitetime.net deliberately runs Gopher in 2026 not because Gopher "is the old Web," but because it preserves another useful mental model: a navigable public information space made of servers, directories and documents. This archive is therefore a Gopher document arguing for better Web sites. The contradiction is intentional and pleasing.
