Look what came today, my Pine64 computer. I think back to 1993 when Daniel Scott Conderman and I purchased the first family computer from American of Madison. It was a big ass Leading Edge desktop 486/sx with 2 MB's of RAM. It was able to do 8.7MIPS. It was not the best in the market or anything but it was just enough under $1000 that I was able to convince my father to break out one of his dusty credit cards for. It was pretty clear too at that point I would be doing something with computers in my career, I was really into AutoCAD. That computer still had all the power I needed though to use all the software that everyone was using. I tinkered all hours of the night dicking around with Autoexec.bat and Config.sys files. I have not spent more then a couple days apart from "my computer" since then. Well, this is my latest computer. It cost $19 and can do 11,040 MIPS.
