Do not "clean up" the archive until every weird small file is gone.

A digital basement should have shelves.
Some shelves should have mislabeled boxes.
Some boxes should contain excellent documentation.
Some should contain a 34-line log whose meaning is unclear.

Preservation is not the same as optimization.

If everything becomes a single perfect overview, there is nowhere left to wander.
