THE OPERATOR LOG

The log is written by initials and job titles rather than names. It
records wake cycles: identical carriers at separate nodes, clocks
drifting toward 03:13, and operators hearing themselves speak messages
they had not yet spoken.

One line repeats:

    NODE IDENTITY FAILURE

Another says:

    If enough nodes synchronize, the network stops being many locations.
    It becomes one place. Or one thing.
