Larry answers the Garage phone on the fourth ring. He is already awake,
which is not reassuring.

You tell him the hatch has appeared again. He says he remembers the old
service warnings and does not remember anyone installing them.

"If you go down," Larry says, "keep the station name between you and
whatever is listening. And don't turn a maintenance problem into a
Wisconsin-wide event."

He pauses.

"If you find a desk, read the paper before you touch the machines. The
people who built that place left better instructions than we did."
