BIZARRE ENDING: THE OPERATOR WHO WAS HERE

You answer a service phone that has no cord.

On the other end, you hear the Garage in real time: the fan, the
fluorescent buzz, the receiver clicking. Then you hear yourself upstairs
describe the hatch.

The voice says:

    YOU ARE EARLY.

The service level lights turn off in sequence. When they return, a
second version of your metal key is lying on the floor.

Both keys are warm. One of them has been used.
