FROM THE VAULT TO THE CLOUD: NITETIME.NET IS COMING BACK ======================================================== Published: June 25, 2025 Author: Daniel Conderman Context: Recovered Conderman.Group Nitetime.net announcement Original URL: https://conderman.group/2025/06/from-the-vault-to-the-cloud-nitetime-net-is-coming-back-and-this-time-were-doing-it-right/ Hey everyone, If you've been around the local nightlife scene for a while--especially in the late 1990s and early 2000s--you might recognize a name that is about to make a very exciting comeback: Nitetime.net. I'm thrilled, and a little giddy, to announce that I'm the one bringing it back. I worked on Nitetime.net in 1999, then poured my heart into Madison Hotspots with my wife around 2005. I've officially acquired Nitetime.net, and I couldn't be more excited. RELIVING THE GOOD OLD DAYS (AND LEARNING FROM THEM) --------------------------------------------------- Working on those early nightlife sites was some of the most fun I've ever had. It was about connecting people to local music, vibrant bars, and unforgettable nights out. There was a magic to it, a real pulse on the community. With Madison Hotspots, we stumbled upon what I still believe was our secret sauce: thinking about nightlife data through three simple axes--Bar, Band, and Date. Pick any two and you'd instantly get the third, telling you exactly where you needed to be. It cut through the noise and delivered what people wanted to know. But we hit limits. The technology wasn't ready for the ambition, especially when we tried to scale that filtering beyond one city. Location-based filtering was a beast. We focused more on flashy aesthetics than on building a robust, functional tool. Life moved on, and the work paused. THE REBIRTH: BUILDING IT CORRECTLY ---------------------------------- Today, that passion for connecting people to local nightlife is roaring back. Owning the Nitetime.net brand feels like a full-circle moment. The biggest difference this time is that we get to build it correctly. The technology has caught up with the vision. We're using modern cloud platforms and development practices to construct the app block by block: a solid, flexible foundation that can evolve without being torn down. Crucial location-based filtering will be there from day one. There is joy in reliving the old days, but even more in having the knowledge, tools, and freedom to craft the platform as it always should have been. This isn't just a nostalgic project. It's a commitment to creating the definitive, most useful resource for finding local live music and good times. Stay tuned. The night is young, and Nitetime.net is just getting started.
