When they said "end-to-end", they didn't mean that end. The latest update on the Dekoda Fecal Surveillance System.
Previously.

To allay the obvious privacy concerns, the company emphasizes the sensors are only pointed down, into the bowl...
Oh, OK, so the fetishist voyeur hackers will only be able to see all of my craps, but not my butt. Well that's reassuring.
Except now I have to cross "OnlyCraps" off my money-making ideas list.

Some of us have perhaps come to assume that "end-to-end encrypted" means "the company that runs this service can't read my messages or see my pictures," but that's not what "end-to-end encrypted" actually says at all, is it?

i think that still can be the case. it's just in this instance, the receiving end is the company and not say your friend on a chat app.

Would these be American-style toilet bowls full of water with a lot of reflective surface area?

That makes sense now. I saw this earlier and I was "Like what did they think the second end in end2end was referring to?"

Did you know that tampering with the Toilet Cameras is a Federal Crime? They are, after all, for research purposes only.

Also, I don't understand why they called it Dekoda when what it clearly is is Rate My Poo.

Kohler's privacy policy mentions using the information they collect to train AI and machine learning models. How soon are we likely to start seeing Craptchas?

"End to end encryption" on a toilet camera makes it sound like they've invented a technology that takes pictures of butts that can only be seen by other butts.

this reminds me a little of the time some mefite proposed defeating sewage-based mass surveillance by means of some sort of hazmat-suited bucket brigade functioning kind of like the tor network, which i still laugh about periodically; i wonder if they've spent the last decade kicking themself over missing a stupid "exit node" joke.
