I really enjoyed it, but I am curious about whether there was authorial intent of somebody worried about / dealing with knee-jerk stereotypes about gay people in an atmosphere so wall-to-wall with Italian stereotypes that I wouldn't have been surprised if Super Mario popped out of a cake yelling "it's'a me!".
