I like this "people clock" better:
https://kottke.org/26/04/the-peoples-clock
"The People's Clock: a Timepiece Made of People"
...To create the clock's "workings", Baas recorded more than 1000 volunteers moving as the clock's hands over a 12-hour period.

If for no other reason than it shows why the standard clock dial has not changed for centuries.

I don't like the way the hour hand points exactly at Five when it's Five:Fifteen:Seventeen in three hand mode. The hour hand ought to be a quarter of the way between Five and Six, and the minute hand a smidge over quarter of the way between Fifteen and Sixteen. Do you even interpolate, bro?

Only now do I realize how very odd it is that I just *know* that 12 (or XII sometimes) means 12 for one hand, and 0 for the other two, and it seems like the most natural and obvious thing in the world, when in reality it's a weird, artificial thing we invented millennia ago and have forced our brains to learn ever since.
