"Each poem displaces the one before ..."

"Bad Language" has a slideshow, video, and essay where translator Laura Marris and video artist Matt Kenyon portray translating a poem by Paol Keineg. On May 4, in an untranslated ceremony, Keineg was awarded the International Grand Prize for Poetry in French by the Académie des Jeux floraux a.k.a. Consistori del Gay Saber, which has a ~700-year history of recognizing excellence in poetry (documented in French at Wikipedia, Google Books, HathiTrust, & Internet Archive). Among other poets recognized this year was Souleymane Diamanka, who last year gave an improv performance in French similar to the old literary game of bouts-rimés often mentioned in French but also played by Percy and Mary Shelley, Christina Rossetti, and others more recently. And the Prix de la Rose d'argent was awarded to Leora Guillot for "Dix-neuf ans," one of her many songs.

Thanks for this post : I live less than an hour away from Toulouse, and though I've been aware of Clémence Isaure and of Les Jeux, I never had the opportunity to attend such a ceremony. May Clémence award you a flower on account of this post !
