Thank you for posting this Kitteh, I am looking forward to sending the very small subscription fee to the newspaper and being enlightened, depressed, and completely supportive of these framers.

This is really well done. A lot of hope from the younger farmers who are determined to maintain their families' legacy in spite of all the forces against them.
All of this is of course made worse by the Trump admin's efforts to eliminate grants targeted at supporting Black farmers on the grounds that racism doesn't exist anymore/DEI is the real racism/their rich white friends want the Black farmers' land to build datacenters. Some of those grants have been restored, but it's clearly going to be an constant battle to make sure money appropriated by Congress actually goes to its intended recipients.
Codeswitch had a recent story about Clarksdale and the push to build an enormous data center there against the wishes of the local residents, noting the lack of a grocery store (or a movie theater where people could have seen Sinners, set and filmed in Clarksdale)
