I watched this with my son and we both really enjoyed it. Kind of a cross between "The Mighty Boosh" and "Blackadder" in a wildly anachronistic 18th century full of magical beings. Pretty wholesome with a vegan Dick Turpin using his knitting, vegetable-arranging and social skills to help out as well as hold up.

I managed not to mention the 1970s series that was popular when I was a kid. One of my prized toys was a double-barrelled "flintlock" cap gun made of metal.

Huh. I thought we'd discussed this before. Did anything ever come out of Noel's, like, just disappearing from the set in the second season? Looking back at the reporting now, it seems like it just sort of got swept under the table.

I think this is an accurate description. We enjoyed it when we watched last year. And my kid and I watched some of the ropey 70s show which was favourite from my childhood. My kid found that "weird" but watchable.

Did anything ever come out of Noel's, like, just disappearing from the set in the second season?

I believe he was struggling with a number of serious health issues.

I watched this a year or so ago; didn't know much about it going in besides a general idea based on the AppleTV show description (which I took w a grain of salt) and was delighted that it exceeded my expectations. It's generally pretty clever and overall just silly and fun. Really much better than it easily could have been.

I really loved this and was sad it was canceled after the first season and Christmas special. (Although it sounds from the comments like maybe that wasn't Apple's decision.) It was hilarious and silly, but they also managed to have some pretty thrilling adventure in some episodes.
