Book: How Migration Really Works by Hein De Haas
Global migration is not at an all-time high. Climate change will not lead to mass migration. Immigration mainly benefits the wealthy, not workers. Border restrictions have paradoxically produced more migration. These statements might sound counter-intuitive or just outright wrong - but the facts behind the headlines reveal a completely different story to the ones we're told about migration.
Hein de Haas is Professor of Sociology at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and Professor of Migration and Development at the University of Maastricht. He formerly taught at the University of Oxford, where he co-founded and co-directed the International Migration Institute (IMI)

I've been referencing this book in every thread I can, because it's clear and authoritative, and relevant to so many issues throughout the world. I highly recommend it for anyone who finds themselves discussing current affairs.
Furthermore, the format lends itself to easy bullet-points, with deeper discussions that follow, so it's easy go in merely at the surface, or take a deep dive.

Can confirm. Thoughtful and informative book. If I could I'd make it required reading for people who liked to spout off about immigration.
