26th October Well I wanted to do more with Haiku, and I wanted to write soem code, so the two things came together and I started working on a Gopher client for Haiku. Written against the Be/Haiku native API, it's the first time I've touched C++ properly in a long time, and it does show. That said, it's actually in a state where it can be used, the only "major" feature missing is a back button, which is kinda necessary to be able to navigate. Hopefully that'll be going in this week other commitments permitting. There are of course lots of other major features to build, but none stop you from being able to actively browse some holes. One thing I'm keen to get built after the back button is support for binary downloads, because that means I'll then be in a position to host builds here on my own hole, and new updates will thus be available through Gopher itself, which feels rather satisfying. Development is open, and it's happening on Codeberg. More to come!
