      Team work in software development is a lie.
  Software development only works as a one-person show.


  * Corporate software development before LLM's:

  Before the company is big enough to even have teams, or
  even  be a considered a startup, typically,  one single
  person writes  the actual software,  gets the thing 90%
  there.

  After that, things become more and more formalized, and
  "teams" get thrown  at the thing,  work is broken up in
  tiny pieces,  and  nobody is allowed to make  any  real
  changes without discussing things to death.

  Work items / tickets/whatever methodology-du-jour calls
  them, are created from these pointless discussions, and
  developers work on the individual items, by themselves.
  There is no team work. Team work is a lie.

  If  any  developer  tries  to make things better by re-
  wiring  the  cobbled together  monolith into  something
  more maintainable,  they get shot down,  because  large
  pull requests are considered un-reviewable.  After all,
  nobody really understands someone else's code. Or wants
  to, or cares to.

  Each fix breaks 2 other things.  Each feature breaks 10
  other things.  The enshittification cycle  ( and that's
  even excluding any intentional user-hostile
  anti-features) starts.

  * Corporate software development after LLM's:

  AI slop agents generate humongeous pull  requests  that
  are /actually/ un-reviewable,  and because they are un-
  reviewable they throw more agents at it,  to review the
  ai-generated slop.  Everything is broken all the  time,
  but  nobody cares,  because  the company will  bankrupt
  soon  or be  bought out anyway,  as soon as the C-suite
  cashes out on their short-term profit and vanishes like
  thieves in the night.


I'd say there's  a lesson for management in this,  but if
you're a manager,  you SHOULD NOT FUCKING EXIST. There is
literally no point to management, you are a parasite.

The  only  software worth anything,  that's not a  broken
pile of tech debt, is software written by a single human.

The entire software industry, and all software we use, is
fundamentally  broken.  Everything  is crumbling,  dying,
being tainted, vanishing. As is our society.
